How To Clean Your Coleman Propane Lantern

With correct care and upkeep, your Coleman propane lantern with provide years of camping delight. Cleaning your propane lantern is a particularly easy process and following these straightforward ideas can lengthen the life of your camping lantern. A clean lantern casts more light and runs much more effectively, so make a practice of cleaning yours on a consistent basis. Use warm water and a mild soap, like dish detergent, to wipe down the world and the outside of the lantern. Bugs are generally interested in the warm, soft light of a camping lantern and a wooded campsite may mean leaves or other waste has gotten within the lantern so it's important to wash out the burner area too.

Permit the camping lantern to completely dry before placing it away to stop rust or other damage. You may also wish to check the mantles after each use. Most Coleman propane lanterns use an insta-clip mantle that is simple to replace. If you find any cracks, tears, or other disfiguring marks on the mantles, replace them before your next camping holiday. Check and clean the connecting valve for the propane canister before putting your camping lantern away too. At the end of the camping season, do a particularly inclusive inspection of your Coleman propane lantern and clean each part of the lantern very well. If any spiderwebs or spider webs have amassed round the burner, you must disassemble the lantern and clear out any tubes that will became clogged.

A tiny, wire bottle brush works rather well for this job. When camping season rolls back around, your Coleman propane lantern should be clean and prepared to use if it was stored correctly. Cleaning a Coleman propane lantern is far easier than caring for a camping lantern with a fuel tank. If you own a fuel lantern, do not forget to always empty the fuel tank if you'll be storing the lantern for at least a pair weeks. Fuel, particularly unleaded petrol, will build up within the tank and cause the lantern to operate less efficiently.

If you've a fuel camping lantern that was stored with fuel within, the simplest way to scrub the tank before using the lantern is to wash it with a touch of alcohol or fuel and then fill it about 75%, of the way full, prime the tank, open the valve, and close it again, then light the lantern and you are prepared.
