Intelligent Camping For All

Plenty of folks still think that all they must do when planning a camping trip is find a good campsite and prepare all their gear. Don't misunderstand what I'm saying, this is critical. But that isn't all there is to do when you are making arrangements for camping. As an interesting point, I myself think that that is only about half it. The other half involves the use of a little bit of smarts and a lot of commonsense.

Plenty of times, campers have a tendency to finish up in scenarios which might have been evaded if only they were listening. When looking out for a good campground, always bear in mind that not all campgrounds are acceptable for each camper. If you are new to camping, for example, it's often a good call to choose a public camping spot that is close to your house. Dodge going to far-off locations when you are only starting. Remember also that public campgrounds are run by a regime agency, so rules and services have a tendency to be consistent and reliable. Privately-run camping sites, on the other hand, generally alter in their services, comforts, and policies. Some people place reservations for a campground which they haven't ever been to before.

How are you able to be certain that it's what you actually want? Reservations can get lost, camping grounds can fill up, and you can find yourselves traveling over one thousand miles to some place where you don't have any campsite. Be certain to get a confirmation by telephone or e-mail, and get all necessary info about the campground, for example refund policies, check-in times, and rules for visitors. As much as humanly possible, ensure that you pick one close to the showers, toilets, lakes, pools, or streams, and playgrounds, if any. Some people even look for spots near rubbish disposal areas, but I shall leave that option to your own preference. Some folks like to get close to specific areas, while others like to be as far distant as possible. Now, when pitching your tent, the rule is to get a level spot that is high off the ground.

This way any water from rains will drain away from your tent.

Always cook your food outdoors. Campgrounds often have appointed areas for this, so be certain you use them. As for eating, you can eat nearly anywhere you like, except within your tent. Why? The crumbs that may actually fall from your plate will attract animals, and they are going to put holes in your tent simply to get to the food. Talking of which, I like to recommend storing all your food in tightly-closed boxes, and if feasible, just place them in your auto's trunk, instead of within your tent.

If you've got a cooler and you would like it close, place something heavy on top of the lid. You are briefly staying at a place where bugs, birds, and animals have made it their home. Protect yourself by employing bug repellents, and if you'd like to see wildlife, do it from a safe distance. If you are in the woods, it's sweet to check yourself and your gear each now and then for ticks. And oh, you can find it awfully fascinating to feed animals, but I would not counsel it. Plenty of campers during the past have attempted doing this, to find the wildlife returning to their tent each so regularly to be fed and make a bother of themselves later on. When it's time to go, be certain to pack your apparatus dry. Always inform the campground attendant that you are leaving and that your campsite is available, as a pleasantness to him and to other campers who could be just arriving.
